A unique collaboration between legendary American cellist Hank Roberts and Italian trombonist Filippo Vignato, “Adagio” promises a mesmerizing blend of genres. Long-time collaborators in the Italian-American band ‘Pipe Dream’, their deep mutual understanding shines in the intimate duo format. Their new recording, ‘Adagio’, released on June 14, 2024, by Hora Records, showcases their creative freedom and boundary-defying music. Expect a journey through chamber passages, folk songs, free improvisation, and more.

Carmen Souza, often referred to as the Ella Fitzgerald of Cape Verde, brings her unique World Jazz sound to Venice. Born in Lisbon to Cape Verdean parents, Souza has become a pioneer in her genre, known for her powerful voice and innovative compositions. Together with her long-time musical partner, Theo Pascal, Souza has been a prominent figure in both the World Music and jazz scenes for over a decade. Her performances seamlessly blend world music, jazz, and songwriting, showcasing her virtuosity and charisma.

Brazilian singer Mônica Salmaso, known for her collaborations with Chico Buarque, brings her exquisite voice to the Venetian stage. In this trio, Salmaso explores the rich Brazilian songbook, combining the lyrical soul of Brazil with jazz influences. The repertoire includes songs by Villa-Lobos, early 20th-century Brazilian waltzes, ancient sambas, and lyrical pieces by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes. Salmaso’s performance promises to be a celebration of Brazilian musical heritage, infused with elegance and depth.
