As part of the “Venezia Jazz Festival Fall Edition”, São Paulo vocalist Vanessa Moreno and Paraíba pianist Salomão Soares will bring their dynamic duo to the Sale Apollinee of La Fenice Opera House on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Known for their extraordinary synergy, Vanessa and Salomão began their collaboration after performing together in larger ensembles. This musical connection blossomed into a duo project that resulted in their acclaimed debut album, “Chão de Flutuar” (2019), which blends various musical genres with seamless vocal and piano improvisations, while maintaining the intimate delicacy of a smaller ensemble.
Their second album, “Yatra-Tá” (2021), solidified their status as one of the most expressive duos in contemporary Brazilian jazz. The album’s name, inspired by the Sanskrit word Yatra (meaning “Journey of Transformation”), reflects their creative exploration of Brazilian roots, combining artistic freedom with innovative arrangements. Drawing from the work of iconic Brazilian artists such as Joyce Moreno, Luiz Gonzaga, Djavan, Hermeto Pascoal, and Tania Maria—who was a key inspiration for their second album—Vanessa and Salomão infuse their performances with energy, warmth, and authenticity.
Their music is a celebration of Brazilian jazz, marked by intricate improvisations and deep emotional resonance. “Yatra-Tá” also features renowned Brazilian singers Mônica Salmaso and Renato Braz, enhancing the album’s rich sonic landscape. This concert is sure to captivate fans of Brazilian music and jazz enthusiasts alike.
