The Malibran theater presents a spellbinding production of “Pinocchio,” an enchanting opera by Pierangelo Valtinoni, based on Carlo Collodi’s timeless classic “The Adventures of Pinocchio.” Running from January 18 to 24, 2024, this captivating work unfolds across two acts, encapsulating the tale’s rich narrative and evocative themes.
Valtinoni’s adaptation breathes new life into Collodi’s beloved story, revealing its intricate web of metaphors that explore the journey toward maturity and self-discovery. Librettist Paolo Madron collaborates with Valtinoni to craft an immersive experience featuring fifty-seven child actors, six adult singers, choirs, and a vibrant orchestra, transforming the renowned fairy tale into a captivating operatic spectacle.
The graceful and emotive musical score by Valtinoni echoes the influences of musical luminaries like Ravel, Puccini, and Bernstein, weaving a tapestry of poignant melodies and vivid storytelling.
