Nik Bärtsch Trio

As part of the Venice Jazz Festival, renowned Swiss pianist and composer Nik Bärtsch will present his project “MOBILE” in the Sale Apollinee of the La Fenice Opera House on Saturday, October 26, 2024. He will be joined by Sha on alto bass saxophone and clarinet, and Nicolas Stocker on percussion.

Bärtsch’s music, which he describes as “Ritual Groove Music”, blends intricate rhythmic patterns with an architectural sense of space. His compositions are marked by repetition, reduction, and minimal variations, creating a hypnotic soundscape that directs the listener’s attention to subtle changes and dynamic phrasing. Drawing inspiration from the urban environment rather than traditional musical styles, his work evokes the pulse of modern cities, offering a unique fusion of jazz, minimalism, and global influences.

Bärtsch’s journey in music began as a drummer, later evolving through his studies in piano, philosophy, and linguistics. His deep engagement with body disciplines and Eastern philosophies is also reflected in his creative process. Through his two musical projects, Ronin and Mobile, he has garnered international acclaim for his innovative approach and distinctive sound.

The performance promises to immerse the audience in Bärtsch’s rhythmic and meditative universe, offering a truly unique experience at the crossroads of jazz and contemporary music. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness one of the most original voices in today’s jazz scene perform live in the heart of Venice.
