Méliès crafted fantastical worlds through theatrical sets and groundbreaking optical tricks, and was a pioneer in hand-painted color films, pushing the medium to dazzling new heights.
This enchanting evening pairs Méliès’ masterpieces with an exquisite selection of French piano pieces from his era, performed live by Gabriele Dal Santo. Relive the wonder of three iconic color films: Le Voyage dans la Lune (1902), a whimsical journey to the moon; Voyage à travers l’impossible (1904), a fantastical expedition through uncharted realms; and Le Royaume des fées (1903), a dreamlike fairy tale brought vividly to life.
