This exceptional evening will be dedicated to the sacred music of Francesco Cavalli, one of the most celebrated composers of the Venetian Baroque era.

The Cappella Marciana, with its exquisite blend of voices and period instruments, will bring to life a selection of Cavalli’s sacred masterpieces, including movements from the Mass for Eight Voices Concerted (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei). The program also includes the deeply moving motets O quam suavis, O bone Iesu, Cantate Domino, and the beloved Marian hymn Alma redemptoris.

Accompanied by the vibrant sounds of period instruments, including violins, viola, trombones, viola da gamba, violone, and organ, this concert will immerse the audience in the rich spiritual and musical traditions of 17th-century Venice.

Under the direction of Marco Gemmani, whose expertise in historical performance practice is unparalleled, the Cappella Marciana promises an evening of profound beauty and reverence, perfectly capturing the essence of the Christmas season.
