Cimarosa’s only work still performed regularly, it is perhaps among the best comic operas of the 18th century. This opera with music by the Neapolitan composer to a libretto by Giovanni Bertati consists of two acts based on the play “The Clandestine Marriage” by George Colman and David Garrick (1776). Before true love triumphs, many misunderstandings and twists occur. The debut took place on February 7, 1792, at the Viennese Hofburg Theater in the presence of Emperor Leopold II.

The artistic cast includes: Geronimo Pietro Di Bianco, Elisetta Francesca Benitez, Carolina Lucrezia Drei, Fidalma Martina Belli, conte Robinson Omar Montanari, Paolino Juan Francisco Gatell.
