From 1 to 30 September 2024, the Giorgio Cini Foundation will host the third edition of “Homo Faber”, in partnership with the Cologni Foundation and the Michelangelo Foundation. Titled “The Journey of Life”, this year’s event offers an immersive exploration of the craftsmanship embedded in the objects that accompany us through the various stages of life. From childhood to travel, from love stories to dreams, “Homo Faber 2024” provides an unprecedented insight into the artistry and skill of exceptional craftsmen.
Under the artistic direction of Luca Guadagnino, renowned filmmaker, and architect Nicolò Rosmarini, the event’s theme is brought to life through a captivating installation. Conceived by Hanneli Rupert, vice president of the Michelangelo Foundation, “The Journey of Life” invites visitors on a sensory journey through the monumental spaces of the Giorgio Cini Foundation on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. This evocative route highlights the profound connection between life’s milestones and the exquisite handmade objects that commemorate them.
From intricate childhood toys to sophisticated travel accessories, and from heartfelt love tokens to dream-inspired artworks, the exhibition showcases unique and original pieces created by master artisans. Each item serves as a testament to the rich tradition and contemporary innovation of craftsmanship, celebrating both significant life events and the beauty found in everyday experiences.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, “Homo Faber 2024 – The Journey of Life” not only honors the artistry of human hands but also reinforces the importance of preserving and promoting the skills that enrich our cultural heritage. Join us in this extraordinary celebration of life and craftsmanship at the Giorgio Cini Foundation.
