The Goldoni Theater presented an unforgettable musical tribute, “Homage to Morricone – Oscar Music“, on January 27, 2024, celebrating the artistry of the legendary Ennio Morricone. Recognized as one of the greatest composers of the 20th century, Maestro Morricone’s illustrious career boasts two Oscars, numerous prestigious awards, and over 70 million records sold worldwide.
Directed by the accomplished pianist and conductor Maestro Andrea Albertini, the show aimed to honor Morricone’s genius while presenting his iconic repertoire in fresh and innovative arrangements, steering away from mere replicas of his work. “Le Muse“, the musical ensemble directed by Maestro Albertini, brought to life the mesmerizing melodies of Morricone, captivating the audience with their artistry and skill.
The evening was graced by the enchanting vocals of Angelica De Paoli, who masterfully recreated the magical cinematic ambiance of Morricone’s unforgettable film scores. Additionally, the Italian-Swedish soprano Susanna Rigacci, renowned as the exclusive soloist for Morricone’s compositions, joined “Le Muse” and Andrea Albertini, adding her unique voice to this mesmerizing homage.
The captivating program featured reimagined renditions of Sergio Leone’s iconic spaghetti westerns, such as “Once Upon a Time in the West“, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly“, and “Giù la testa“. The concert also ventured into the contemporary tones of films like “Mission” and “Malena“, surprising the audience with Morricone’s unforgettable songs like “Se Telefonando“, popularized by Mina, and “Here’s to you“, sung by Joan Baez.
