Until July 17, 2022, the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana presents the exhibition “Heinz Mack – Vibration of Light“, a retrospective of the German artist among the most important exponents of kinetic art worldwide, curated by Manfred Möller with support from Geuer & Geuer Art Düsseldorf.
Displayed in the historic Salone Monumentale del Sansovino, accessible through the Museo Correr, the exhibition is part of the official program of Collateral Events of the Biennale Arte 2022 and features large-scale paintings, including the 6 x 3.5 meter painting entitled “Der Garten Eden” (The Garden of Eden), a set of partially rotating light stelae, and a four-meter high mirror sculpture, created specifically for this project.
Mack’s works are placed in an art-historical dialogue with wall paintings and ceiling tondi by Renaissance artists such as Tintoretto, Veronese and Titian. Adjacent to the Marciana Library, in an inner courtyard of the Royal Palace, is an extension of this exhibition, where a stainless steel stele is placed.
