At the Palazzetto Tito of the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, as part of the 59th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, the solo exhibition of South Korean artist Ha Chong-Hyun is open until August 24, 2022.
Curated by Sunjung Kim, former artistic director of the Art Sonje Center and former president of the Gwangju Biennale Foundation, the exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Kukje Art and Culture Foundation, with support from Kukje Gallery in Seoul, Tina Kim Gallery in New York, Almine Rech Gallery, and Blum & Poe.
The retrospective presents a curated selection of over twenty works by Ha Chong-Hyun from the past six decades, presenting the full breadth of his materials, methods, and creative experimentation.
Curator Sunjung Kim explains: “Having lived through Korea’s turbulent modern history that includes the Korean War and the division of the peninsula, the postwar economic development policy, and the military regime, all during a period marked by Japanese occupation, liberation, and the Cold War, Ha is living proof that art and society are inseparable“
