The major photography exhibition “Graziano Arici. Oltre Venezia ‘Now is the Winter of our Discontent’” is open to the public until May 1, 2023 at the Fondazione Querini Stampalia. Curated by Daniel Rouvier and Ariane Carmignac, and promoted by the Foundation and the Réattu Museum in Arles, France, it presents more than 40 years of shots, an archive of the world (Albania, Germany, England, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Spain, the United States, France, Georgia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia, Slovakia, and Switzerland), with more than 400 photographs from 9 series, taken between 1979 and 2020.
The Querini Stampalia Foundation has also become a place of photography: a center for photographic documentation, on Venice especially, and for the study of the history of photography. In 2017 Graziano Arici donated his archive – of more than one and a half million images, consisting largely of his work but also of thousands of photographs, prints, and tens of thousands of negatives of portraits and images of international culture in Venice prior to the start of his work – to the Fondazione Querini Stampalia, which is committed to preserving and enhancing it. This donation has prompted other photographers to see the Foundation as a point of preservation and enhancement of their work.
