Giovanni Bertolazzi in recital

In collaboration with the association “Musica con le Ali”, the talented pianist Giovanni Bertolazzi will perform a concert in the Sale Apollinee of La Fenice Opera House on Thursday, November 7, 2024. Widely regarded as one of the rising stars of the Italian classical music scene, the Verona-born pianist has already garnered numerous first prizes in prestigious international competitions and collaborated with top-tier orchestras.

Bertolazzi has distinguished himself with his in-depth research on the works of Franz Liszt, a composer to whom he has dedicated a significant portion of his musical training. This dedication has culminated in his success at the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition in Budapest and the recent release of two monographic albums dedicated to Liszt’s compositions, which have been met with praise from critics worldwide.

For this special evening, Bertolazzi will present a program that celebrates Liszt’s virtuosic paraphrases of famous operas. The program includes:

  • Ernani. Concert Paraphrase, S. 432
  • Miserere from Il Trovatore. Concert Paraphrase, S. 433
  • Don Carlos. Festive Chorus and Funeral March, S. 435
  • Salve Maria! From the opera Jérusalem (I Lombardi), S. 431ii
  • Aida. Sacred Dance and Final Duet, S. 436
  • Reminiscences of Simon Boccanegra, S. 438
  • Rigoletto. Concert Paraphrase, S. 434

This performance promises to be a captivating journey through Liszt’s operatic reimaginings, showcasing Bertolazzi’s exceptional technique and musical depth.
