On March 28, 2025, the Goldoni Theater pays tribute to the legendary Giorgio Gaber with “Ma per fortuna che c’era il Gaber“ (But fortunately, there was Gaber), a heartfelt homage crafted and performed by Gioele Dix, with Silvano Belfiore on piano and Savino Cesario on guitar.
Marking the 20th anniversary of Gaber’s passing, Gioele Dix honors the artist who, together with his brilliant collaborator Sandro Luporini, gave voice to a restless generation striving to “change the world.” Gaber’s incisive, poignant blend of song and theater captured the essence of a vital and polemical era, often predicting its contradictions with stunning clarity.
Dix, a lifelong admirer of Gaber, weaves a unique narrative through the celebrated and lesser-known works of the Gaber-Luporini repertoire. This includes iconic songs, rare unpublished lyrics, monologues, and sketches never before performed. The Gaber Foundation played a crucial role in unearthing these treasures, making this performance an extraordinary exploration of the artist’s legacy.
Audiences will be treated to vintage classics like Il Riccardo and Barbera e champagne, alongside fresh interpretations of unrecorded pieces such as Appunti di democrazia. Dix also shares personal anecdotes, including his serendipitous first meeting with Gaber in Mestre, making the show both intimate and revelatory.
Accompanied by the masterful musicianship of Belfiore and Cesario, Dix embodies both actor and singer in this passionate, original celebration of Gaber’s enduring brilliance. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind journey into the genius of Giorgio Gaber!
