"Obiter Dicta" by Filippo Annunziata
A Literary Exploration Amidst the Pandemic
Filippo Annunziata

On Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 5:00 pm, the enchanting Sale Apollinee of the Teatro La Fenice will host a remarkable event—the presentation of the book “Obiter Dicta” by Filippo Annunziata, published by Editore La Vita Felice.

Coordinated by Andrea Erri, the General Director of the Teatro La Fenice Foundation, the conference will bring together distinguished scholars and intellectuals. The panel includes Alberto Urbani from Ca’ Foscari University, Tommaso Dalla Massara from Roma Tre University, Cesare Fertonani from the University of Milan, and Giovanni Chiodi from the University of Milan-Bicocca. Concluding the event will be the author himself, Filippo Annunziata, who is associated with both Luigi Bocconi and Ca’ Foscari Universities.

Set in Milan during the tumultuous March of 2020, at the height of the pandemic, “Obiter Dicta” introduces us to Giacomo, a PhD student in Comparative Law at the State University. Struggling to shape his thesis project, Giacomo is faced with uncertainty and delays. It is Achille Briola, a retired professor and luminary in the field, who becomes his guiding light. Together, they embark on a transformative journey, inspired by the rediscovery of handwritten notes by Gino Gorla (1906-92). These long-forgotten notes, tucked away in the Unidroit collection in Rome, have the potential to revolutionize legal research.

Amidst the confines of their lives, intertwined with cinema, literature, and the arts, Giacomo and Achille forge a virtual dialogue. Their conversations are rich with references, learned quotations, and intellectual musings. Yet, as the pandemic takes its toll, their world is about to undergo a dramatic and unforeseeable transformation.

Obiter Dicta” promises to be a literary exploration that delves deep into the human spirit, intellectual pursuit, and the profound changes brought about by a world in turmoil. Join this literary rendezvous at the historic Teatro La Fenice for an evening of insight and reflection.
