From January 15 to April 16, 2025, Venice will host the sixth edition of “Classici fuori Mostra”, a permanent film festival dedicated to restored classics. Held every Wednesday at the Cinema Rossini (Salizzada de la Chiesa o del Teatro, 3997), this festival is organized by the Venice Biennale in collaboration with the Circuito Cinema del Comune di Venezia, Ca’ Foscari University, and IUAV University of Venice.
Over the course of twelve weeks, audiences can rediscover 12 iconic films, recently restored by leading film archives worldwide. Screened in their original versions with Italian subtitles, each film will feature an expert introduction and conclude with a lively Q&A session.
The festival opens on January 15 with Marco Bellocchio’s “Sbatti il mostro in prima pagina” (1972), starring Gian Maria Volontè. This 4K restoration, presented as a world premiere by Cineteca di Bologna in collaboration with Surf Film, Kavac Film, and Minerva Pictures, will be introduced by Michele Gottardi.
The lineup continues with timeless masterpieces, including:
- “Gilda” (1946) by Charles Vidor
- “Vivement dimanche!” (1983) by François Truffaut
- “Offret” (1986) by Andrei Tarkovsky
- “L’armée des ombres” (1969) by Jean-Pierre Melville
