From May 10 to November 23, 2025, the 19th International Architecture Exhibition (Biennale Architettura 2025), titled “Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.”, will transform Venice into a hub of innovation and exploration. Curated by architect and engineer Carlo Ratti and produced by La Biennale di Venezia, the exhibition will be hosted at the Giardini, the Arsenale, and various locations throughout the city.
“Intelligens”—a single, evocative title in both Italian and English, derived from its Latin root—redefines intelligence as the capacity to adapt to the environment using limited resources, knowledge, or power. This concept will guide the exhibition, presenting experimental design proposals to address today’s urgent global challenges. Curator Carlo Ratti emphasizes architecture’s pivotal role in navigating a rapidly changing world, stating: “To face a world in flames, architecture must be able to exploit all the intelligence that surrounds us”. The exhibition explores the synergy between natural, artificial, and collective intelligence, imagining solutions to environmental, social, and technological crises.
Carlo Ratti brings a wealth of expertise as a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Politecnico di Milano. He directs MIT’s Senseable City Lab and leads CRA – Carlo Ratti Associati, an architecture and innovation studio with offices in Turin, New York, and London.
This year’s Biennale Architettura promises a bold reimagining of architecture’s role in shaping the future. Don’t miss this groundbreaking event that challenges the limits of creativity and adaptation!
