On 10 and 11 September 2024, the Armida Quartett will perform in the Sale Apollinee of La Fenice Opera House, in collaboration with the cultural association Musikàmera. This celebrated ensemble, comprising Martin Funda (violin), Johanna Staemmler (violin), Teresa Schwamm-Biskamp (viola), and Peter-Philipp Staemmler (cello), promises an evening of exquisite chamber music.
The Armida Quartett has garnered international acclaim since their victory at the ARD International Competition in 2012. Their reputation was further solidified through concerts and radio recordings as BBC New Generation Artists (2014-16) and ECHO Rising Stars (2016/17). They are now regular guests at prestigious chamber music venues across Europe, Asia, and the United States.
The program for these concerts is a rich and varied selection of string quartet masterpieces. It begins with Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s “Capriccio op. 81 n. 3,” a piece that showcases Mendelssohn’s lyrical and vibrant style. Following this, the quartet will perform Leoš Janáček’s “Quartet no. 2 ‘Intimate Letters’ VII/13 (1928),” a deeply personal and emotionally charged work inspired by Janáček’s passionate correspondence with Kamila Stösslová. The evening will conclude with Franz Schubert’s “Quartet D804 ‘Rosamunde’ (1824),” a composition renowned for its lyrical beauty and expressive depth.
These concerts offer a unique opportunity to experience the virtuosity and interpretative prowess of the Armida Quartett in an intimate setting. Don’t miss this chance to enjoy an evening of exceptional chamber music performed by one of the world’s leading string quartets.
