Arlecchino at Goldoni Theater

From January 17 to 19, 2025, the Goldoni Theater will host the highly anticipated performance of “Arlecchino?”, a bold and vibrant reinterpretation of the commedia dell’arte, written and directed by Marco Baliani.

This version of Harlequin, brought to life by the brilliant Andrea Pennacchi, is unlike any other. Clumsy, overweight, and hopelessly inept, this Harlequin stumbles through the chaos of his life with a troupe of equally mismatched companions: Marco Artusi (Brighella), Maria Celeste Carobene (Beatrice), Miguel Gobbo Diaz (Silvio), Margherita Mannino (Clarice), Valerio Mazzucato (Pantalone), and Anna Tringali (Smeraldina). Together, they create an uproarious blend of comedy, cabaret, burlesque, and drama that reinvents tradition while paying homage to Goldoni’s legacy.

The dynamic set design by Carlo Sala, ever-changing and operated by the actors themselves, enhances the show’s frenetic energy. Adding to the atmosphere is live music by Matteo Nicolin and Riccardo Nicolin, whose surprising and lively compositions compel the cast to become dancers and singers in a seamless fusion of art forms.

With a feverishly reworked script and breathtaking performances, “Arlecchino?” becomes a true celebration of Venetian theater’s fearless innovation. Marco Baliani imagines even Carlo Goldoni himself laughing uproariously from the audience at this brilliant reinvention of his timeless work.

Don’t miss this whirlwind of laughter, music, and mayhem—a spectacular tribute to the enduring spirit of commedia dell’arte.
