Also this year the Museum of Natural History “Giancarlo Ligabue” hosts in the picturesque setting of the Gallery of Cetaceans the exhibition with the winning photos of the International Underwater Photo Contest organized by Abissi Underwater Photo Venice and now in its fourteenth edition.
The winning images of “ABYSS 2021” will be exhibited from Saturday, October 16 until Sunday, November 7, 2021. A jury of experts will view hundreds of photographs of the highest quality taken in the seas around the planet and among them will decide the winning images submitted by photographers from around the world. In order to valorize the material collected and promote love and respect for the sea and the organisms that populate it, the participants will give their images to the museum, in order to enrich its archives for educational and cultural purposes.
On the occasion of the inauguration on Saturday, October 16 at 4pm some representatives of CERT (Cetacean stranding emergency response team) of the University of Padua will be guests, who will talk about the exceptional nesting of sea turtles in the northern Adriatic Sea and cetacean monitoring.
From the long collaboration between “Abissi Underwater Photo Venice“, organizers of the international Contest and “Mare di Carta“, a bookshop that for almost 25 years has been dealing with the sea from a literary, essayistic, poetic point of view, as well as in a technical sense, will take life in this edition “Parole d'(A)mare“, a literary competition dedicated to the sea.
