In collaboration with Musikàmera, the Sale Apollinee of La Fenice Opera House will host an extraordinary performance of Franz Schubert’s Winterreise (Winter Journey) Op. 89, D. 911, on February 12 and 13, 2025. This iconic song cycle will be brought to life by the exceptional talents of Markus Werba and Matej Dzido.

The Programme: Franz Schubert’s Winterreise is one of the most profound and moving works in the classical repertoire. Comprising 24 songs set to poems by Wilhelm Müller, the cycle explores themes of heartbreak, longing, and existential reflection through Schubert’s unmatched melodic genius and poetic sensitivity.

The Artists:

  • Markus Werba: An acclaimed Austrian baritone, Markus Werba is renowned for his rich voice, expressive range, and compelling stage presence. Having performed at prestigious opera houses and concert halls worldwide, including La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Royal Opera House, Werba is celebrated for his interpretations of German Lieder and operatic roles.
