The 2023-2024 Symphonic Season of the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice will close in grand style under the baton of renowned Spanish conductor Juanjo Mena. In the final concerts, scheduled for October 18, 19 and 20, 2024, Mena will lead the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice in a thrilling program featuring two masterpieces: Witold Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra and Sergej Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30.
The Rach3, as it is famously known, is one of the most demanding and virtuosic works in the piano repertoire. For this performance, the soloist will be Nicolò Cafaro, a rising star in the classical music world and the winner of the 38th edition of the prestigious Premio Venezia. Cafaro’s interpretation promises to capture the power and lyricism of Rachmaninov’s beloved concerto.
The concert will also feature Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra, a work filled with complex rhythms, vivid colors, and dynamic orchestration, making it a showcase for the entire orchestra under Mena’s expert direction.
Juanjo Mena is one of Spain’s leading conductors, known for his deep interpretations and innovative programming. He has worked with many of the world’s top orchestras, including the BBC Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic.
