The prestigious national piano competition “Premio Venezia”, promoted by the Fondazione Amici della Fenice in collaboration with the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice, returns for its fortieth edition. Supported by the Veneto Region and the Municipality of Venice, this competition has established itself as one of Italy’s most esteemed musical contests. Its history boasts a roster of winners who have risen to prominence on the international stage, such as Maurizio Baglini, Giuseppe Albanese, Roberto Prosseda, and Alexander Gadjiev.
The competition aims to provide a platform for the most promising new graduates to showcase their talent to the broader public, offering crucial support as they embark on the challenging journey of a concert career, which demands ongoing artistic development. Thanks to the generous contributions of sponsors and patrons, the Premio Venezia offers substantial prizes, totaling over 95,000 euros for the five finalists. The first-place winner also receives the opportunity to perform in fifteen concerts in Italy and abroad, including one with the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice.
The competition begins with closed-door selections from October 8-10, 2024, at the Sale Apollinee of Teatro La Fenice, judged solely by the technical jury. The second phase, open to the public and featuring a popular jury from the Fondazione Amici della Fenice, takes place on October 11. The semifinals will be held on October 12 in the Sala Grande, followed by the grand finale on October 13, where the top three pianists will compete.
The esteemed technical jury includes Joaquin Achucarro, Luca Mosca, Carla Moreni, Filippo Gorini, Enrico Brondi, and Marco Tutino, while the pianists will perform on a Fazioli piano, provided by the competition’s technical partner.
