Curated by Elisabetta Barisoni, the Dom Pérignon Rooms at Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art will host an exhibition by Giorgio Andreotta Calò from 15 November 2024 to 4 March 2025.
Coinciding with the International Art Biennial, Ca’ Pesaro’s program dedicated to contemporary voices continues with a showcase of the Venetian artist’s work. Giorgio Andreotta Calò, who previously won the PAC tender from the Ministry of Culture, will present his monumental sculpture “Medusa,” now part of Ca’ Pesaro’s municipal collections.
In addition to “Medusa,” the exhibition will feature the results of core sampling investigations carried out on Ca’ Pesaro’s façade by the Municipality of Venice’s public works professionals. This process, originally intended for static and scientific studies of the building, has been transformed into an artistic endeavor. The dialogue between the historical layers of the Longhena palace, overlooking the Grand Canal, and contemporary perspectives underscores the ongoing inspiration drawn from “the stones of Venice.”
Giorgio Andreotta Calò, born in Venice, is renowned for his multidisciplinary approach that spans sculpture, installation, and photography. His work often engages with themes of memory, transformation, and the relationship between natural and built environments. His unique ability to blend scientific investigation with artistic expression offers a profound reflection on history and the passage of time.
This exhibition not only highlights Calò’s significant contributions to contemporary art but also enriches the narrative of Ca’ Pesaro’s historical and cultural legacy.
