The exhibition “Eva Marisaldi. Biribisso” is open to the public until 24 November 2024 at the Casa di Carlo Goldoni, curated by Chiara Squarcina and Pier Paolo Pancotto, in collaboration with Galleria de’ Foscherari and Francesco Ribuffo.
Eva Marisaldi (Bologna, 1966) made her debut in the late 1980s and has since participated in two Venice Biennales (1993 and 2001). Known for her keen observational skills and ability to translate her experiences into unique visual compositions, Marisaldi’s work spans various expressive media including installations, sculptures, graphics, and videos. Her art often defies traditional categorization, reflecting her deep engagement with the private sphere, social realities, and the environment.
Marisaldi’s work is characterized by micro-narratives where analogies and contrasts take precedence over straightforward storytelling. Her creations are dense with semantic meaning yet remain expressively linear, blending fantasy with moments of reflection, and poetry with irony.
The project for Casa Goldoni exemplifies Marisaldi’s approach. It occupies all the rooms of the building and comprises a series of original works that vary in technique and form but share a common inspiration: Carlo Goldoni, the celebrated playwright, and his contributions to theater and the broader world of entertainment and stage representation. This exhibition weaves together visual, sound, and literary elements to create an immersive experience that pays homage to Goldoni’s legacy while showcasing Marisaldi’s distinctive artistic vision.
Visitors to “Biribisso” can expect an engaging exploration of the interplay between art, theater, and personal narrative, presented in a way that is both thought-provoking and delightfully imaginative.
