As part of the 16th edition of the “Venezia Jazz Festival”, the “Synth Workshop” seminar will take place on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd August 2024 in the functional spaces of Combo, the former Convento dei Crociferi in Venice. Organized by “Nu Fest”, the electronic sector of Veneto Jazz, in collaboration with Midiware Distribution, this event promises to be a highlight for electronic music enthusiasts and aspiring synth artists.
Curated by Adam Holzman, a renowned figure in the history of jazz and a master of the synthesizer, this workshop offers a comprehensive two-day seminar dedicated to analog synthesizers. Holzman’s expertise and passion for electronic music ensure an engaging and educational experience for participants. The program will cover a wide range of topics, from general keyboard knowledge to the theory and practical application of synthesizers, culminating in sessions on “composing” with synths.
Participants will have the unique opportunity to access a scholarship established in memory of Marcello Mormile, the founder of the electronic music festival “Nu Fest” and an early advocate for the project. This scholarship aims to support and encourage new talent in the field of electronic music.
In addition to leading the workshop, Adam Holzman (piano, keyboards) will perform in a trio with Stefano Olivato (bass, chrome harmonica) and Davide Ragazzoni (drums) in two different settings. They will play at the Hotel Villa Orio and Beatrice at the Alberoni as part of a collaboration with the Albe Jazz Festival on 1 August, and at the Combo venue on 3 August, concluding the seminar on analog synthesizers.
This event offers a unique blend of education and live performance, celebrating the innovative spirit of electronic music within the vibrant context of the Venezia Jazz Festival. Don’t miss this chance to learn from a master and experience cutting-edge music in an inspiring setting.
