Ana Carla Maza

Ana Carla Maza and her jazz trio
at La Fenice Opera House
Ana Carla Maza

In collaboration with “VenetoJazz“, cellist and composer Ana Carla Maza elegantly accompanied by a jazz trio will perform her new album “Bahia” on March 25, 2023, in the Sale Apollinee of La Fenice Theater.

Ana Carla Maza began playing the cello at age 8 in Havana, Cuba. At 13 she took part in an album with the project “Carlos Maza en Familia” and at 14 she played for the album Quererte. In 2012 she moved to Paris to study at the Conservatoire and began a solo career that led her to perform all over Europe and meet cellist Vincent Segal, who has been a great inspiration to her. Published albums interpreting the musical traditions of her childhood, from Brazilian bossa nova to Cuban habanera, include Latin rhythms, pop tunes, jazz harmonies and classical technique. Her latest album “Bahia” is another step in her musical journey, a fabulous blend of classical cello and vocals, drawing on Cuban son, samba, bossa nova, tango, jazz and chanson.

The jazz quartet includes:

  • Ana Carla Maza – cello and vocals
  • Norman Peplow – piano
  • Marc Ayza – drums
  • Luis Guerra – percussion
